I realize now how much I have learned through some of the things that I have done or experienced. I’ve learned a lot of life lessons that can’t be taught by just listening to someone telling you what to do. That’s why I think that learning by actually doing something helps me, rather than just listening to someone talk, talk, talk.

A major life lesson that I learned and have experienced is that being dishonest and irresponsible can lead to bad things. I have watched some of my family members and friends do things like cheat and lie to get their way, and get what they wanted, and I wanted to do that too.

So, one day, when I went to a friend’s house like I normally do, this friend wanted me to go to a track meet with her, and I wanted to go, too. So, not thinking clearly, I went with her to the meet, knowing that I was just supposed to be at her house at and nowhere else. It felt good to be a little defiant. After being at the track meet for 10 minutes, we got bored and decided to go to a friend’s house. I was first supposed to just be at my original friend’s house, now I was at the track meet, and I was soon about to go to another friend’s house. I was getting myself deeper and deeper into trouble very fast. But, at the time, I didn’t care. I was enjoying the thrill of it all. Until it got late and close to the time the meet was supposed to be over and I was needed to be at home. I was starting to regret what I had done when it all set in that I needed to get home fast. My friend wanted to stay where we were but I needed to get home.

I didn’t end of getting caught that night and I’m glad I didn’t. And if you asked me if I would do it again, I would say no in a heartbeat, because I wouldn’t risk getting caught again. It felt bad to lie to my parents, and I don’t want to feel that way again.

Lesson Learned.
